Jamais Vu is a serial virtual reality experience consisting of repetitive loops, inspired by some of my own recurring dreams.
In French, Jamais Vu means “never seen”. But it is also a term in psychology that refers to the phenomenon of experiencing something that you know and has meaning, but it repeats so often as to lose its meaning, and therefore, become unrecognizable. It can be achieved by repeatedly writing or saying a specific word out loud. After a few seconds one will often feel as if "there's no way it is an actual word”. In this project, i wanted to try to recreate some of these dreams and loop them to provide a rich metaphorical representation of our unconscious by transporting the looping feeling so common in our dreams into the waking world. I hope that people who get immersed in my virtual world will find that the looping of the knowns will render them unfamiliar.

In Jamais Vu, there are four loops that represent four metaphors: the transition of states of matter, the endless struggle of human, the cycle of day and night, and the eternity of universe energy.
